Vocation
Coming from a medical family, I used to spend a lot of time at my parent’s work as a child – at the clinic. I used to see my dad, a surgeon, and my mum, a dentist, at work. As a child, I knew how to mix fillings and I used to mix the different components myself while waiting for my mother. I learned very early on that in the medical world, there are no exact working hours, and that sometimes you have to sacrifice your personal life to serve people. But at the same time, I realised that as a doctor, you feel that you are living a meaningful life. After all, when you help patients solve their health problems, you change their lives, making their lives better and happier. And if I can contribute to that through my work, could there be a more meaningful mission and greater satisfaction?
So, from an early age, everything was clear and there was no question about what I wanted to do when I grew up. I was only considering which medical specialisation to choose – general medicine or dentistry. However, after assessing the general medical situation in Lithuania and its prospects, I chose dentistry. In fact, it was more tempting. Now I can say without hesitation that I am happy with my choice. My love for people and my work is my daily inspiration. I like to focus on my work, where the results and happy patients are the most motivating.
Approach to work
Work has been an important part of my life since I was very young. My parents worked a lot, and hard work and honesty were instilled into me from childhood. In my daily work, I try to do everything responsibly and as best I can. When a person entrusts you with their health, there can be no excuses for poor or poorly done work. If you make a mistake or something goes wrong, you have to take responsibility and find a way to make it right as soon as possible. Reputation is very important in our work. That’s why I try to do every job honestly, with integrity, in a nice and tidy way, so that I can earn the trust of my patients and set an example for my colleagues.
Communication with the patient
To ensure the success of my treatment, I always try to establish a relationship with the patient, to listen to their concerns and desires, to become a helper, a counsellor, a confidant, in other words, to gain their trust. Once contact is established, it is much easier to do the job as well as possible, thus ensuring that the relationship will last and that I will be referred to other people. I always aim to surprise the patient, to exceed their expectations, and then the relationship becomes even stronger. Patient’s trust is very important in my work, because I am a professional who strives to effectively solve the health problems of people who come to me and make their dreams come true. When I feel that a patient trusts me, I get even more motivated. A relationship based on trust and mutual respect allows me to achieve the best possible treatment results.
Life’s motto is never stop
In my life, I never want to be in a comfort zone, I always want to learn, improve, move forward, and I am always looking for something new, both in my professional and extracurricular activities. While studying at the Faculty of Dentistry of the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences (LSMU), I got involved in scientific activities, I prepared and participated in many projects, and in competitions as a second-year student, I outperformed even fifth-year students. Achievements motivated me, encouraged me to keep going. In 2013-2016, I completed my oral surgery residency at the Clinic of Oral, Craniofacial and Maxillofacial Surgery at LSMU and, before long, I started to pursue a PhD in medicine. In 2021, under the supervision of Prof. Gintaras Juodžbalis, I prepared and defended my PhD thesis on the topic Stimulation of bone tissue regeneration by osteoplasts impregnated with osteoblast secretomes of different differentiation”.
Specialisation
I am currently specialising in oral surgery, performing surgical and periodontal interventions, as well as implants. Complex sinus lift surgeries, placement of bone grafts, treatment of edentulous jaws are just some of my areas of expertise. I am also actively involved in scientific activities, regularly participating and presenting scientific reports at Lithuanian and international conferences of dentists and implantologists. I am a member of the Chamber of Dentists (since 2013), COST (European Cooperation in science and technology) activities in Lithuania, ITI (International Team of Implantology). While studying during my residency, I was a scientific collaborator and co-author of two patents at JSC Biome, which develops regenerative materials and was awarded the prestigious global competition TiE50 TOP Startup 2015″. In 2015, the biomedical technology company was one of the winners of the annual Silicon Valley competition for the 50 most successful young high-tech companies. Thousands of start-ups from around the world strive for this recognition each year. I teach oral surgery to 3rd and 4th year students at the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences. Although I don’t have enough time to do it anymore due to the amount of work I have to do, I hope to return to it again one day.”
